I could see these bald cypresses at dawn of Boulieu, Isère (France). They were planted by Count Hilaire de Chardonnet in the 19th century. Not far from there in his castle of Vernay, in the village of Charrette, he experimented with breeding silkworms in greenhouses for his textile factories and experimented with the cultivation of plants brought back from his travels. It was during one of his travels that he brought back these plans of bald cypresses and planted them in the pond of Boulieu.
